Six Images of the Church
Institution
[1] The Church is an organized structure with rules. This structure includes leaders of the Church who teach the word of God. Christ, followed by the Pope, is the head of this hierarchy.
Advocate
[1 ]The Church speaks on behalf of the oppressed, poor, and outcast so it is an advocate for a just and loving world. The Church stands up for the weak and teaches us to do so too. Pope Francis wrote a book and spoke for our mother nature and how we are damaging it.
Teacher
[1] Church is a place that spreads Jesus' teachings through words and actions. The Church teaches the word of God, to celebrate and believe. Singing or receiving the Eucharist is way of celebrating that the Church has taught us.
Community
[1] One thing Church has been very open about is welcoming everyone. The Church does so because they have a vision of what the world could be. We are taught to welcome everyone and that we are devoted to one another through one body of Christ. The Church welcomes everyone who want to join the body of Christ and guides them in this journey.
Servant
[1] Church is a place that serves the people of God and all of God's creatures. As Jesus washed away the disciples feet, we are too responsible to serve others using our own talents, skills, and interests. Helping someone on the side of the street to helping someone with their work can all be seen as serving others in the eyes of the Church.
Transformer
[1] The Church shows the world the presence of God; the Church is the Body of Christ of earth. The Church allows us to join the Kingdom of Christ through the sacraments. After that, each member carries on Christ's work of building the Kingdom of God on earth. Going to the Church and becoming closer to God is a daily transformation.
